For a while, I thought the silver style would be a quick-to-pass fad, but instead of slowly disappearing, it seems to be spreading infectiously.
I spent 5 hours walking the streets of New York City today, doing live trend spotting in one of the world's largest fashion capitals. Flashes of silver kept glittering their way into my line of vision. Not the tacky Christmas ornaments, but silver fashion and accessories for women, children and... men!
I saw quilted silver boots, metallic bags, dresses, sparkly wool hats, scarves and gloves, and silver leggings!
But the highlight came early in the day. At Grand Central Station, around 9 a.m., I was peering into the store windows when a wave of curious intrigue overwhelmed me. Kenneth Cole's Metallic Bomber ... for men! It's a daring wear for any man.
If you're wanting to silverize your style, but aren't ready to commit to the full-length sleeve of the $228 zipper front, you can always remove the sleeves and wear it as a vest. On the other hand, if you know you'll never wear the arms, you can just get the KC vest for $150.
