Israeli start-up Silo has developed a groundbreaking vacuum sealing container system that not only extends food freshness but also integrates with Amazon's voice service, Alexa. Utilizing patented deep vacuum technology, Silo's container system slows down food spoilage caused by oxidation and bacteria. Unlike other vacuum sealers, Silo's container seals with a single action, making it the first of its kind. Once the food is placed inside, users simply position the container on Silo's countertop device, press down gently, and voila! The container is vacuum sealed.

The innovative system works using a patented mechanism within the container, allowing for vacuum sealing "from the bottom up." Air is suctioned from the bottom, travels up a channel in the side, and exits from the top. Silo claims that this method keeps food fresh for at least twice, and potentially up to five times, as long as usual.

But Silo's system doesn't stop there. The container and device are “smart,” working in conjunction with Alexa and Silo's app. When the container is placed on the device, it identifies a tag, and the automated scale technology measures its contents. Using Alexa, consumers are prompted to specify the food product inside the container. This information is then logged in the Silo app, which provides users with details on how much of a particular item is left and how long it will remain fresh. Moreover, the app sends reminders to use specific foods before they spoil, alerts shoppers if they are buying too much of a particular item, and notifies users when they need to re-stock their supplies.
