The Zaffiro is a shaving razor that is equipped with special sapphire blades that are truly high-tech in that their tips measure only 80 atoms thick. This makes the edge around 10 times sharper than a surgeon's scalpel, and 5,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair.
Zaffiro founder Hayden Hamilton says that lab-grown industrial white sapphire used in the blades is the same kind used in solar panels, LEDs and the iPhone 6's camera lens.
This unique shaving razor is currently the subject of a Kickstarter campaign, that can see you land one of these razors for a pledge of $179, which represents a significant saving over the planned $299 retail price.
