Sharetapes is attempting to bring back the awesomeness that was the mixtape. The Australian company has developed "mixtapes" that let you share your online playlists. The sharing itself works through NFC and QR codes.
To use Sharetapes, one must first by a pack of five blank tapes. Once the tapes are registered, users can then link their online playlists (supported sites include YouTube and Spotify) to the physical mixtape. Additionally, a special code is generated that allows those without smartphones to access the Sharetapes playlist via the company's website.
Maxing mixtapes and burning CDs is more or less a lost art. Sharetapes may not make these pastimes popular again, but these mixtapes are a great way to help bands get attention and also for sharing music in a novel way.
