Yandex Will Add Software to Detect Exhausted Russian Taxi Drivers

Russian taxi drivers will now undergo facial recognition, in order to detect exhausted drivers and require them to rest. The device will be located on a car windshield and it contains software that is sensitive to sings of excessively tired individuals. The system will pick up on Russian taxi drivers who display excessive blinking, yawning or poor posture. The software is able to derive a person's condition based on 68 facial data points.
The company is implementing the software in response to current events in Moscow. Where the city saw 764 car crashes, which resulted in 23 deaths. The facial recognition software will be used in an effort to reduce crashes and fatalities.
