Breaking the mold of conventional box-shaped washer designs, Bauknecht, Whirlpool's European Brand, is developing a gorgeous rounded washing machine.
Created by designer Arman Emami, the round washing machine is bereft of visible corners and edges, giving it a smooth and modern design that fits perfectly with the decor of many contemporary homes.
The minimalist design features a two tone color scheme, easy-to-operate controls, and a tinted glass front with push-to-open mechanism.
Emami's aim with the design was to forecast a washing machine for the future. “Although the pragmatic, box-like shape of normal washing machines is logical, it’s totally lacking in emotion”, says Emami in his explanation of why he chose to build the appliance without any corners or edges.
While no more efficient than current models, the rounded washing machine does bring humanity one step closer to the life envisioned by The Jetsons all those years ago.
