Amazon's Ring Fetch is a pet tracking technology that is able function by using a low-bandwidth system, which is able to connect low power devices over a large geographical distance. Ring Fetch is designed to be able to track a user's dog, or pet, and be able to be alerted if the pet leaves the user's yard. The system is able to use a geofence around the user's yard, which allows the system to be notified when the pet leaves.
Amazon has stated that the system uses 900Mhz spectrum technology, which allows it to work up to distances of 500m. However, Ring Fetch can work up to a mile if access points are used. The company has already distributed 700 of the devices amongst its employees.
