Anbernic, the handheld gaming console company, unveiled its upcoming next-generation handheld, the 'RG505.' The naming system is a shorthand code for the specifications of the device, meaning the RG505 is the 'Retro Gaming 5-inch Display Series 5.' This is the first device unveiled in Anbernic's series 5, which follows the company's series 3. It is important to note that series 4 was skipped due to the number's association with the word "death" in Mandarin.
The RG505 is a Nintendo Switch Lite-like handheld with a 5-inch, 16:9 display. The device is powered by a UNISOC Tiger T618 processor, similar to the recently-released 'Retroid Pocket 3+.' This means the RG505 will be capable of playing most Android games, as well as console games from the 2000s-era consoles and before.
Anbernic has not yet confirmed the price of the device or when it will be available for preorder, as the company has only recently launched its RG353M this week.
