This Concrete Cover Displays the Sound Waves from The Record's Music
Mishal Omar — July 14, 2016 — Art & Design
The Belgian visual label 'AntiVJ' created these record covers with a unique process.
Designed for the album of Belgium artist 'Thomas Vaquie,' the record cover is minimalist in its design but represents the music that the record holds. This was done by using a "digital visualization tool to analyse the songs," which was 3D-printed. This "sonic landscape" was then used to create a mold of the print onto a concrete cast -- which was finally photographed for the cover. The cover for the record is textured to further bring to life the sound waves that were visually captured.
This fusion of modern technologies represents a nostalgia-inducing musical medium while showcasing the perfect juxtaposition between contemporary and classic design.
