'My Place' is an initiative of Recession Design, a group of designers and project managers that explore DIY architecture and design solutions for low-cost living.
The exhibition presented at 'The Fabbrica del Vapore' in Milan is a series of life scenes created entirely out of sustainable, cheap and easily available materials. The scenes include an office, hobby lab, sports bar, playground and shelter. The areas are full of ingenious, modular objects and ideas that elevate Do-It-Yourself creations to the level of contemporary design.
And the low-cost concept is taken so seriously that visitors are given detailed specifics and assembly manuals of the exhibition pieces. (I might be able to create a cool table football for Christmas!)
Next up for Recession Design is a book called 'Do-It-Yourself Design, Ideas Against The Crisis.' Move over, IKEA!
