These real life depictions of Disney characters show them doing hard drugs and looking a bit off. The illustrations are intensely realistic because the photographer used people who take on specific roles of each Disney character.
Cinderella is a crack-smoking housemaid, Esmeralda is a thief, Robin Hood is a heroine addict and Snow White got poisoned from her alcoholic indulgences. In this series there is also Genie, Alice in Wonderland, Ariel and Jasmine.
It seems as if these real life depictions are making a commentary on the addiction to Disney characters and their stereotypical representations. By making them drug abusers, Kajsa Gelin destroys the falsity the original characters stood for and challenges viewers to think twice about what these popular characters stand for.
