The Echo Park Cactus Store in Los Angeles has opened a New York outpost for its specialty: rare and unusual cacti.
The plants are displayed on concrete slab tables and the whole space looks quite brutalist. Instead of the team going to a supplier and picking up slabs of your typical emoji-like cactus, the shop owners themselves seek out and dig up many of their plants themselves.
According to one of the owners, Carlos Morrea: "What makes our store unique is that it's really based around the idea of providing specimen plants to the public." With an eye for the unusual, the owners tend to favor plants that look like they grew organically in nature.
