In our fast-paced, technologically advanced world, Elle magazine has tried its hand at publication social commerce experiments in order to drive traffic to its website.
As a result of online magazines and blogs, publications are having a harder time trying to make consumers pay for the information they put in print. In order to try and captivate the online audience, Elle has taken to Facebook and Pinterest to create a variation of an e-commerce site. Currently, they are testing this system out to see if it’s viable, and if it is, then Elle will begin to monetize the process.
This project is called Trend Reports, and it will allow Elle employees to create a trend catalog with all the latest styles on display.
Who knows if these publication social commerce experiments are the future of the print industry, but this campaign will definitely help to drive traffic to Elle’s website.
