Fashion designer Alec Ali Abdulrahim references the protective armor of Medieval knights for his Mai-Gidah Spring/Summer 2014 collection.
This conceptual menswear line, entitled "Summer Frost" is a contemporary translation of traditional pieces of protective armor. Boasting sculptural shapes and varying transparencies, the collection embodies a feeling of elegance and sophistication.
Ghanaian designer Alec Ali Abdulrahim is a graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts of Sint-Niklaas, in Belgium. The designer is now based in London where he creates his vanguard pieces. Alec looks to 16th century nights for his collection's inspiration and recreates the garments and posture of the era's distinguished gentlemen.
Standouts from this collection include over-sized mesh sweaters that are layered atop loosely fitted trousers. These garments feature cocooned silhouettes and play with proportion.
