Steelcase has created its own private office solution to the open floor plan many workspaces are continuing to adopt. Dubbed Brody, it takes on a pod-like design that helps to seclude workers from their colleagues whether for peace and quiet or to simply get some things done. Although similar private office solutions have been seen in the past, this system is modular, contemporary and based on research into 'Flow' -- a state of peak productivity that can last for 45 minutes at most.
With comfortable seating, a swiveling table and built-in light, the Brody shuts out distractions in all the right ways. Mark McKenna, director of product design at Steelcase, says, "The average office worker gets distracted every 11 minutes, and takes 23 minutes to get back on task. Add those two things up, and most people never get into flow."
