Transitional Fashion Hues at Chanel 2008
The hautest color to wear this pre-fall season is a rich purple. It can be confusing, that time between summer and fall, when it's starting to get chilly, but you needn't stick with dull browns, blacks and greys.
Chanel showed their Pre-Fall 2008 collection in early December, rich in shades of purple, complimented by the simplicity of the black and white iconic of the label. As we mentioned previously, Karl Lagerfeld's designs included retro makeup, like dramatic liquid liner and beehive hairstyles, inspired by singer Amy Winehouse.
The gallery shows some of the most vibrant shades of plums, worn as entire pieces like the opulent coats, or just a hint of violet in the trims or accessories. One model was shown in black, with the dramatic sleeves and collar of a thick lavender turtle neck sweater peeking out. Subtle, yet highly effective, particularly with the shoes accented in a hue to match. Another model wore an oversize black sweater dress and preppy pea coat paired with shiny black tights and stunning purple ankle booties. Accessories included a CC logo cubic brooch in the center of an enormous black hair bow.
For those who love to follow runway collections, the time between major seasons can feel painfully long. That's why in recent years designers have added collections like "resort" or "pre-fall." Check out more from Chanel's Pre-Fall collection followed by highlights from Prada's resort collection from last year:
