A Canadian startup called Powerlace has invented a shoe that it believes could revolutionize the shoe industry forever. Powerlace's shoe system utilizes a heel-based pressure plate that tightens shoes and a mechanism at the lower rear end to release them.
When you insert your foot into the shoe, the Powerlace mechanism is triggered and the shoe is fastened. You can choose the tension level via a tab located on the outside upper area. The tension of the laces can also be adjusted.
Powerlace is currently the subject of a Kickstarter campaign that aims to raise funds to bring a men's running shoe to market in US sizes between 8 and 12 and four colors -- orange, blue, green and gray.
