The 'Playtime' Collection Folds to Form Striking Furniture

Inspired by the ancient Japanese art of origami, designers Ying Zhang and Ida Thonsgaard created an intricate series of furniture called the 'Playtime' collection. When not in use, the furniture lies as flat as a piece of paper. However, when folded, it suddenly becomes detailed furniture with beautiful and distinct angles. Every piece in the collection fits together perfectly in order to form a chic furniture set.
While heavily inspired by origami, the furniture also explores Nordic textiles. Each item in the furniture collection either transforms into a table or a stool with patterns derived from Scandinavian culture. Tessellated wooden triangles that are coated in a textile laminate fold and flow into each other to create striking pieces of portable furniture.
