Dzine launched a new show at the Deitch Gallery in Long Island City with some seriously pimped-out bikes. Dzine's bikes are all fully functional, but sold for outrageous prices as sculptures.
The blue bike has a throne as well as a regular seat, but it pales in comparison to the red and gold bicycle with a fake engine. The detailing is all real gold plating.
Implications - Consumers have a desire for new design that doesn't borrow for the past. This stems from the over-appropriation of that has occurred over the last decade. Companies eager to grab a share of market should consider representations of the future in movies as a indication of what to design.
