The Pill Range by Alexander Lotersztain Features Medicinal Furnishings
Michael Hines — October 28, 2013 — Art & Design
The Pill Range by Alexander Lotersztain is a new line of couches and ottomans. The Australian designer created this collection for his furniture company, Derlot Editions. The chairs are made using foam, wood and either leather or fabric. Foam is placed around a wooden frame and then covered in either fabric or leather.
Many designers have taken it upon themselves to redesign pill cases, but not many have created furniture inspired by pills. That being said, the Pill Range by Alexander Lotersztain does things tastefully. The ottoman and couch aren't overly oval and there are no outward indications or markings to indicate that these pieces of furniture were inspired by medicine. Subtly can be key in design, especially when it comes to design with atypical origins, such as the Pill Range.
