Located in Jesolo, Italy, Piazza Mazzini is a center in the bustling town that resides in the province of Venice that boasts a brand new tool for community-building. The oversized bench is aimed at cultivating community in the town and serving as an informal gathering place for residents and visitors.
Designed by Metalco, the large gathering place is a solid wood seat featuring steel edging and supports. There is a light underneath that illuminates the perimeter of the sprawling bench, while it also contains several planters in which trees have been planted.
Conceived to provide "islands of relaxation," the bench is an important investment by the town in urban placemaking, a movement that maintains safe, well-lit and public spaces are an important aspect of building a robust community of healthy individuals.
