At first glance the Phyllis Galembo "Embrace the Alien Within' project kind of gave me the chills. But after reading about the origins of these West African spirituality masquerade costumes, my fear turned to fascination.
After forgetting about the mysterious identities of the masqueraders, I was able to reflect upon the beautiful colors and designs, along with the religious and spiritual ties that keep these traditions going. I suppose that's what the Phyllis Galembo "Embrace the Alien Within' project is really about.
