Vienna-based designer Philipp Aduatz has constructed a chair primarily made of gravel. Dubbed the 'Gravel Chair,' this furniture piece is made of construction material and boasts a well-executed experimental furniture design.
Philipp Aduatz chose an unusual material to build with and, as a result, created a unique design that has sparked dialogue within the design industry. To construct the chair, Aduatz took polystyrene foam, added resin and glass fibers, and then covered the entire volume with stone. The result is a highly textured surface that resembles the gravel one would encounter in any outdoor space.
Although appearing quite heavy, the chair is lightweight due to its polystyrene foam base. The 'Gravel Chair' is a limited edition piece, with 12 available worldwide.
