Since the common practice tends to be to place your open novel face-down when your reading is interrupted, the Petrifications Bookmarks are a logical -- albeit unusual -- form of page savers. Krzysztof J. Lukasik certainly opted for something much more substantial than a sticky note or a scrap envelope.
Reviving the once enthusiastic use of marble as a material, the designer has created a collection of five monuments. Each is a triangular prism with exquisite veins and coloring, taking unique dimensions to accommodate books of all shapes and sizes. The winsome stone wedges can be kept on bedside tables, coffee tables, windowsills and floors, standing assertively like sculptures when not in use and otherwise acting as pedestals for in-progress literary greats.
