The Pepper app was initially launched last year as a platform to help connect restaurants with food suppliers and streamline the process of acquiring ingredients. Using the Pepper app restaurants could easily manage their orders and relationships with suppliers. However, the platform is now offering a service for consumers named Pepper Pantry, where consumers can place orders with food suppliers. However, portions will be delivered in large quantities similar to the portions consumers can purchase at bulk retail stores.
Consumers can pay a flat $5 processing fee, and then choose between meats, vegetables or dairy items.
Currently, the Pepper Pantry service has entered into agreements with suppliers in New York City, and Boston.
