Architecture studio Wood Marsh presents a look at its latest design project in the form of the Peninsula House. The house is defined by its curved walls made using rammed earth and charred timber. It rests along the Australian coastline by the town of Flinders, overlooking views of the Bass Strait. The design is inspired by the orthogonal structure, nodding to the coastline's shape and paths that surround the site.
Founding partner Randal Marsh speaks to Dezeen about the design approach, stating "In elevation, the form of the house takes its reference from the prehistoric Bass Strait coastline. The exterior texture reflects that windswept, weather-beaten form, whilst also referring to an organic mammal, reminiscent of whale carcasses which often wash up on the beach."
