Peace Boat's EcoShip is a project that aims to promote sustainability and eco-friendly design in the global sea transportation community.
The EcoShip was commissioned by Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Peace Boat. The EcoShip is an ocean liner that can accommodate up to 2,000 passengers in 750 cabins. The cruise ship will feature a maximum speed of 21 knots and a cruising speed of 17 knots.
Ten large retractable elements made up of solar panels will deliver power to the ship while acting as sails in the right conditions. Due to this, the ship will generate a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to other cruise liners. The ship will also feature an on-board eco lab and a plant kingdom. The cruise ship will make three worldwide trips a year beginning in 2020 and will visit 100 ports each year.
Peace Boat's EcoShip hopes to show the global shipping community that an eco-friendly alternative to sea transportation is viable and available.
