Korean artist and sculpture Park Chan is the creator behind these metal sculptures that feature the use of 'sliced images.' The artist constructs metal sculptures from thin metal layers that he puzzles together using three dimensional topography charts. After piecing the layers together he fuses each piece with a bendable cover that allows for the movement and shaping of each sculpture.
The sliced image sculpture features a collection of human forms -- the most recognizable one being Marilyn Monroe. Park Chan was able to capture the movement of Marilyn Monroe's skirt and his ability to create movement out of something that is so stiff and unbendable like steel is absolutely commendable. The other sculptures featured in the artists steel sliced image collection include various bodies in motion and bended positions.

Trend Themes
1. Sliced Steel Sculptures - The use of thin metal layers to construct highly-detailed and dynamic metal sculptures creates opportunities for new art forms and sculptures that are both beautiful and functional.
2. 3D Topography Charts - The use of 3D topography charts to guide the construction of metal sculptures allows for the creation of intricate and complex structures that would be difficult to achieve with traditional sculpture making techniques.
3. Bendable Cover Materials - The use of bendable cover materials to enable the movement and shaping of metal sculptures opens up opportunities for new art forms and functional designs that can adapt to various needs and purposes.
Industry Implications
1. Art and Sculpture - The use of sliced steel and 3D topography charts can revolutionize the art and sculpture industry by introducing new techniques and materials that can lead to creations that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
2. Architecture and Design - The use of bendable steel and cover materials in sculptures can lead to innovative designs in architecture and interior design, such as flexible facades and movable structures that can adapt to changing environmental conditions or user needs.
3. Engineering and Manufacturing - The use of 3D topography charts and thin metal layer construction can be applied in engineering and manufacturing to create new products and structures that are lightweight, durable, and efficient in their use of materials and resources.
