Paddy Dillon Worked with Local Studios on the Roundhouse Works
Architect Paddy Dillon collaborated with London-based design studios Reed Watts Architects and Allies & Morrison on this interesting and industrial-looking building design. Called the Roundhouse Works, the structure houses an important organization that provides creative facilities and programs "to young people, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds."
Paddy Dillon's design features a very interesting exterior. In partnership with the two design studio collaborators, the architect reimagines the exterior of the building and class it in old railway sleepers. This material is traditionally laid across the railway tracks and is what holds the tacks in position. This approach does not only advance approaches to sustainability in the architecture industry but it also pays homage to the building's history—the Roundhouse Works was traditionally used as a railway shed.
