Giuseppe Gurrieri recently designed an unusual cafe with walls that fold up to serve as outdoor tables. One of the problems many restaurants face is maintaining their patio area when it is not in use. This cafe solves the issue of providing outdoor seating by integrating the tables into the building itself.
The 'Eco' bar is a new cafe located in the Italian city of Sicily. The cafe is housed inside the old ticket office for a sports arena, which sat derelict for a number of years. Now the building is used for indoor and outdoor dining with a patio area integrated directly into the cafe walls. When the cafe is open, the walls can be folded up to provide outdoor tables for patrons. The area beneath the walls also doubles as a storage space, making it easy for the cafe to use and maintain its patio year-round.
