The Oke Collection Has the Perfect Lumber Tumbler for Every Drink
Amelia Roblin — October 1, 2013 — Art & Design
As far as dishware is concerned, wood is a missed opportunity. The Oke Collection demonstrates what the earthy material can do to make pretty and practical pieces for everyday use.
Nakagawa Mokkougei has training as a traditional Japanese cooper, and it's his skills that produce this absolutely beautiful set of drinking vessels. To carve out the little pots, both Jinnai Cedar and Japanese Cypress were used. These are considered rare timbers and their lovely textural qualities further express the high quality.
The pale and dark woods make up a bucket, a sake pitcher, a sake cup, a regular drinking cup and a shot glass in each complete Oke Collection. You knew that wood could be versatile, but would you have expected these charming items?
