Nike Shoe Boxes are a Centric Component to Gyu Han Lee's Exhibit
Kalin Ned — September 25, 2019 — Art & Design
Nike shoe boxes are a critical component of a contemporary exhibition in Seoul, Korea. Artist Gyu Han Lee is hosted by 003archive for a presentation titled 'ON MY SEAT.' The event will run from September 21st until October 6th.
Gyu Han Lee harnesses cardboard to produce "household-sized chairs, benches, and stools." The artist is selective with the source of the material. While the framework is crafted from wood, a few bespoke styles of Nike shoe boxes are utilized, as well. This includes the red and orange renditions, as well as the boxes that house Nike's Air Force 1st and the vintage Nike SB.
As a result, 'ON MY SEAT' hovers the area of furniture design, usefulness, branding, and consumerism.
