Nexus by Tracey Sarsfield is a powerful sculpture that explores the connectivity between two people. It is made up of two human forms, both of whom are sitting in a cross-legged position as though meditating. Their faces are slightly upturned as well, showing that they are not looking directly at each other, but focusing on a higher state of being.
Made out of resin, paint, vinyl and fibreglass, Nexus by Tracey Sarsfield is connected a number of taut black wires. These wires happen to form a beautiful pattern on their backs before extending in a linear fashion towards each other. In a way, these wires can be interpreted as an energy or essence that is being exchanged between the two. Deep and powerful, the sculpture encourages mindful reflection in its audience.
