T-Mobile announced that its nationwide 5G network will be launched ahead of the scheduled date of December 6th. The nationwide 5G network will have low-band 5G capabilities, and it will operate at 600 MHZ. The network will also cover over one million square miles. The 5G network extends to both urban and rural locations and it provides 5G access for 200 million people. Low-band 5G technology runs on slightly slower speeds than other 5G networks, however, it has a much longer range.
Additionally, the company is in the process of merging with Sprint. When the merger is complete, T-Mobile will be able to add Sprint's 5G spectrum technology to the network. This could allow the network to run at a faster speed. Sprint spoke on the effects the merger would have on the network, "If the merger with Sprint closes, the New T-Mobile will be able to build on this foundation to deliver transformational broad and deep 5G for All."
