The 'MS Porrima' concept boat is an eco-friendly transportation solution designed as an alternative to gas-powered vessels that would maintain a small carbon footprint. The boat is focused on environmental research as a way to highlight how sustainability can be prioritized; a series of solar panels across the top of the vessel capture energy when sailing or docked. Measuring in at 118-feet in length and 79-feet in width, the vessel features limited storage space with a design that takes after Japanese origami, Swiss Army knives and Russian matryoshka dolls.
The 'MS Porrima' concept boat is the design work of Gunter Pauli and the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, and is expected to arrive back in Japan by 2025 in time for the World Expo.
