Samsung Phones Will Contain a Ray-Tracing-Enabled GPU
Colin Smith — January 19, 2022 — Tech
Samsung and AMD have debuted a new mobile ray-tracing-enabled processor. While ray-tracing has been a feature in the video game world since NVIDIA's 10-series GPUs in 2016 and gaming consoles received ray-tracing capabilities with the launch of the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5, mobile gamers have been left behind. Now, though, mobile gamers will be able to enjoy the algorithmically generated lights of ray-tracing in games with the release of the 'Exynos 2200' processor.
This CPU contains an 'Xclipse' onboard GPU which has been developed over several years with the collaborative help of AMD and Samsung. AMD's 'RDNA' architecture is also utilized in the Exynos 2200, making it capable of handling full ray-tracing. On top of this, the processor features eight cores that work in tandem to deliver optimal performance and display clarity.
