This commercial begins with two seniors who meet for lunch at a local McDonald's franchise. The duo are dressed in athletic clothes and look like they've been enjoying the outdoors. As their third friend enters the room, he walks with a cane, making viewers feel instant sympathy for the character who isn't able to enjoy the same active pastimes as his friends.

Instead of ending sadly, the McDonald's Senior Citizen Edition ad concludes with an unexpected scene. What looks like an elderly man's cane is actually revealed as a selfie stick that holds his smartphone as he takes a picture of himself and his best friends.

Fusing modern technology and elderly actors, this fast food advertisement breaks stereotypes associated with aging and proves that getting old means access to a whole new type of freedom and fun.
