In light of the COVID-19 crisis and the fact that the global demand for surgical face masks has skyrocketed, German-Nambian designer Max Siedentopf has taken it upon himself to compile a list of protective mask alternatives. Tapping his imagination and sense of humor, the creative develops a project that sees everyday objects used as protective equipment, ultimately bringing a smile to the face of those who see it.
Max Siedentopf's COVID-19 mask alternatives include a lettuce leaf strapped to someone's head with an elastic band, a female sanitary napkin, a shoe, orange peel, and more. The project is aptly titled ' How-To Survive a Deadly Global Virus.' The artist was inspired "after seeing images of people wearing home-made masks [...] on social media."
Although criticized for his project, Max Siedentopf has apologized for any offense that it has caused.
