Iksoi Studio Adds a Concrete Grid to the Mallcom Factory
Amy Duong — August 1, 2023 — Art & Design
Indian design practice Iksoi Studio design a new exposed concrete structure for the Mallcom Factory, which is a PPE factory on the site of what was once an old textile mill. This is located in Ahmedabad and the functional new design decorates the exterior walls of the building and interior areas.
The choice to leave the elements unfinished and exposed across the building is meant to celebrate raw materials and their efficiency. Speaking about the project, studio founder Dhawal Mistry tells Dezeen that "On the outside the factory wears its toughness with pride. Within the unyielding fortress, we aimed to design a place of solace and wonder, where light and architecture coalesce in a mesmerising display of softness and strength."
