The Maison Margiela Fall Couture Collection Features Endless Texture
Malika Renee Butss — July 11, 2015 — Fashion
With a change to the brand name and John Galliano on board, the Maison Margiela Fall '15 Couture Collection defies convention and sparks originality.
For his first Paris show since his fall from grace, John Galliano utilized a variety fabrics not commonly used in couture. Neoprene, burlap, plastic and boiled wool give this collection an array of texture in addition to its lush appeal. While the burlap was transformed into an expressionist-inspired dress, the plastic was reserved for the grande finale, a contemporary wedding dress that defies gravity and the traditional form.
In addition to the highly textured couture, the Maison Margiela Fall '15 Couture Collection also offers a line of interesting footwear. While most fashion houses went for chic pumps, Galliano created collage-like footwear fit with a circular metal heel.
