As part of a master plan proposal for 'Shenzhen and Hong Kong Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism & Architecture,' Ma Yansong from China based design and architect studio MAD has designed Nanjing's newest urban city development space.
Yansong demonstrates her simple vision in the Shan-Shui City Concept. The Chinese word 'Shan' means mountain and 'Shui' means water. The design is gracefully executed, with a high rise building that features unique curves and forms in order to differentiate itself from the rest of the skyscrapers in the city. The project is an urban proposal that takes inspiration from traditional Chinese landscape paintings where futuristic looking series of buildings designed to look like mountains and public areas overlap with the greenery.
She manages to pull off the combination of a high-density city that is fully integrated with nature. In turn, that generates an energy filled urban environment for the future that will hopefully create a long lost bonding experience between nature and its inhabitants.
