Alex Bellos has set out to create a whole new type of billiards competition with this custom elliptical 'Loop Table' that completely re-tools the game's basic design.
Custom requested from the England-based Snooker and Pool Table Company, this circular table features all new rules for a brand new game called 'Loop.' Besides just being pool spelled backwards, a 'Loop Table' is circular in shape and reduces the number of pockets from six to just one located near the circle's center.
The basic geometry of the classic billiards game has been toyed with now that only one pocket is available for players. The elliptical table design creates a whole new challenge for the uninitiated and nicely doubles as both an interesting center piece and a guaranteed conversation starter.
