'Mohawk Group' has created a collection of lichen carpeting inspired by the colorful patterns found in nature.
Designed in collaboration with Jason F. McLennan, the Founder of the 'Living Product Challenge,' 'Lichen' is the first product to receive the 'Living Product Challenge Petal' certification. To create this natural-looking product, Mohawk teamed up with a biologist to help the team reproduce the look of lichen and identify between different species of the organism. Each design is supposed to represent its own species and has tactile and visual differences to distinguish them.
Lichen carpet is available in modular form as opposed to longer rolls. This means interior designers are able to create patterns and designs in the carpet with the individual modules.
