By the looks of it, the Level Shelf appears to be made using an elastic material of some sort. In reality, the Level Shelf uses a continuous piece of canvas acrylic fabric that is looped through the cylinders. Depending on what is placed on each of its three sections, the cloth will dip accordingly. Of course, the most important factor is weight. For instance, a vase full of flowers can't compete with a stack of books.
