Samsung has launched the 'Less Microfiber Filter,' a laundry filter whose name gives away its primary advantage, which is that it is designed to well and truly reduce the tidal waves of microfibers that infiltrate the ocean and cause all kinds of damage to marine life and ocean ecosystems.
The 'Less Microfiber Filter,' which is located outside the washing machine, is fitted with blades that entrap micro-plastics before transferring them to a separate compartment, which means that the filter need only be cleaned around once a month.
Moohyung Lee, executive vice-president and head of the research and development team of Samsung's Digital Appliances Business division, stated that the advent of the 'Less Microfiber Filter' comes amid rising awareness of the need to curb micro-plastic pollution in the ocean, and accompanying legislation. "With innovations like the Less Microfiber Filter and Cycle, Samsung is enabling Everyday Sustainability in a wider array of products and making eco-conscious daily practices second nature in the home," Lee said.
