Chandra Prakash designed the Lap chair, which is specifically meant to cater to the cross-legged position. The Lap chair evokes the calm feeling of sitting on our mother's lap and the chair embodies an ergonomic form that adapts to various positions when sitting on it.
The designer's idea was to create a comfortable feeling and through the minimal design, it delivers both comfort and warmth that those would want from a chair. The prototype was made from flexy plywood with melamine coating and MS piping at the legs. It also sits very low in comparison to other chairs to accommodate a comfortable position. It is supported by an ergonomic support at the back which is also great for spinal alignment.
