Though this cross shaped raio may seem a bit simple with its traditional craftsmanship and use of local wood, it actually has quite an intelligent meaning.
The designers explain their cross-shaped radio by saying it is a commentary on the product as an “object of everyday use that becomes cult-like, showing great power of media, loneliness in the contemporary society and the need of belonging to a community.â€
Who knew?
Implications - In the current society, many consumers are searching for comfort in products with a retro feel. These cross-shaped radios allow for buyers to purchase a modern product, yet feel as though they are experiencing an antique commodity. Companies would be wise to infuse their products with newness, yet maintain certain touches from previous decades.
