OMA Joins DJ Harvey to Design the Sonic Klymax Nightclub
Amy Duong — May 22, 2024 — Art & Design
Architecture studio OMA works together with DJ Harvey on the Klymax Nightclub design at the Potato Head resort located in Seminyak, Bali. Here, the space will optimize acoustics and audio along with a dance floor to experience. The English DJ is known for his immense knowledge backed by working in nightclubs for four decades. The walls and ceilings of the club are paneled with teak veneer and perforated with over 2.6 million holes to prevent sound waves from reflecting and changing the sound.
The team explains that he wanted to add "the most unique and significant elements of the world's foremost parties and venues — past and present — into what he considers the most rewarding nightclub experience imaginable. At Klymax, the sound comes first. It just so happens that when constructing a room to present the music in the best possible way, the design is visually appealing."
