Almost every day someone comes up with a new use for Microsoft's Kinect hardware. Ken Moore has designed a Kinect-controlled theremin, taking the classic electronic instrument and adding some great digital twists.
The Kinect-controlled theremin observes the player's hand position, which allows it to be controlled. The musician can change pitch and volume as he or she would with a physical theremin and, with a stroke of genius, Moore also introduced a new gesture to allow control of vibrato on the output.
