Jiehao Su photographs between the borders of urban and rural areas in modern China for his latest series.
'Borderlands' is essentially an exploration of home, or where we call home. He asks, “What is home? This is a question [that] I, as a Chinese person, cannot help but ask. It is also a question that a whole generation in China who has left the homeland they have lived in for centuries would ask."
Su is primarily interested in how we make a certain place our home and the way that that location influences who we are and how we behave. There is an animated, lively relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit, and Su attempts to penetrate that unspoken bond with his photography.
